Letter to Parents/Caregivers
We would like to thank you for making the decision to have your child/children join the Scouting movement at Kinross Scout Group and hope that they will come to love Scouting as much as we do!
In May 1995, a group of parents decided to form a Scout Group and in June of that year, the 1st Kinross Scout Group was officially opened, meeting at the Kinross Primary School. In 1998 Kinross Scout Group moved to McNaughton Hall and have been meeting there ever since.
The Kinross Scout Group is vibrant and energetic with lots of fun and exciting programs where the young ones can ‘learn by doing’. Our group is made up of Joeys, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers Sections, with youth members ranging in age from 6 to 18 years of age.
All the relevant documentation is attached and a brief interview will be arranged for you to go through the papers with the Group Leader and/or Section Leader.
Your child/children will then attend their section meetings for 4‐6 weeks before being “invested” when they will get the badges and scarf for the uniform. In that time, they will gain an understanding of the Scout Law & Promise and how their Section operates.
Parents are usually advised of the “Investiture Ceremony”, so you can organise a shirt and be present and photos can be taken. Please be aware that the Y1 Youth Member Application and H1 Health Statement forms need to be completed, as well as insurance and enrolment fees paid, for the investiture to take place.
Leadership
Scout Leaders come from all walks of life, from parents of Scouts, to childhood Scouts, to people with no Scouting experience at all!
Leaders need to be motivated individuals with a commitment to providing varied, exciting and dynamic programs for their Scout Group. Scouts Australia helps Leaders deliver on that commitment by providing training and support in all aspects of Scouting, youth leadership, programming and safety.
Leader training is provided through the Scouts Australia Institute of Training, which is accredited to award nationally recognised VET qualifications in Leadership and Management.

Volunteering with Scouts Australia gives you opportunities to:
• Encourage, mentor and empower young people to be their best
• Contribute to your local community
• Rediscover adventure yourself
• Involved the whole family in new adventure together
• Have fun
• Challenge yourself
• Get active
• Learn new skills
• Be appreciated
• Meet people with similar values
Scout Jamborees in 2019
We are 10 Scouts from Kinross Scouts Group in Perth, WA, Australia raising money to attend the 2019 Australian Jamboree in South Australia, and the 2019 World Jamboree in West Virginia, United States!
The Australian Jamboree is held once every three years, with 10,000 Scouts attending from around Australia. Jamboree lasts for ten days, with Scouts working together in small groups, camping, cooking, making new friends, challenging themselves with new adventures, and basically having a once in a life time experience.
